Home & Business Decorating Contest

Event tentative. Prizes for Best Theme, Overall Decoration and Most Patriotic.
Judging begins at 10 am, Winners announced at 1 pm.
Home & Business Decorating Contest winners are awarded Catalina Island Gift Certificates:
1st place $100, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25

Golf Cart Parade / 1:00 pm

Come dress yourself, dress your cart, or play the part!! Decorate your float for the 2024 theme, "Swinging Into the 20's & 30's", or the good ol' red, white & blue. 

Parade line up meets along Casino Way between 12-12.30 pm. (Decorated vehicles only.)
Parade categories: Best of Parade, Best Art Deco, Best "Golden Age," and Most Patriotic.

Dinghy Parade / 3:30 pm

Organized by the Catalina Island Yacht Club. Jump in your dinghy and motor through the Avalon Bay moorings or watch from the shoreline.

USC Marching Band at the Catalina Museum / 3:30 pm

Looking for something special to do on Catalina Island this July 4th? Join us at the museum for a 4th to remember with the celebrated USC Trojan Marching Band! Doors open at 3:30 pm.  The band will arrive and perform at approximately 4:30 pm.  There will be a live auction for a once-in-a-lifetime Trojan experience.  Your ticket includes a classic Americana buffet. Themed cocktails will be available for purchase. View flyer.

USC Marching Band at the Catalina Casino / 7:30 pm

Enjoy a live performance with the USC Trojan Marching Band at the Catalina Casino on the Fourth of July. Doors will open at 6:30pm, and the concert will begin promptly at 7:30pm. Tickets start at $30.50 ($10 of every ticket sold will be donated to cover the USC Band’s travel expenses) and guarantee standing room only. Seating is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the bar in the Casino Ballroom. Following the concert, guests will be invited to stay and enjoy the annual fireworks display at 9:00pm from the Casino’s Ocean Promenade. View flyerPDF File.

View the Fireworks from the Harbor / 8:30 pm

Cruise out onto Avalon Bay aboard the Cyclone power boat for a unique perspective of Catalina’s annual 4th of July fireworks. You’ll be right in the middle of all the action, as you watch a spectacular barrage of colorful fireworks ignite the evening sky high above the glow of downtown Avalon and the iconic Casino. Learn more

Fireworks Show over Avalon Bay / 9:00 pm (approx.)

Grab a chair or blanket and set up a spot on one of Avalon's main beaches or just watch from your boat, hotel, vacation rental or favorite downtown spot.
